Hello World!

Welcome to my blog, a space where tech meets curiosity and where I get to share what I learn, build, break, and fix along the way.

I’m Roel, a DevOps engineer and consultant from the Netherlands. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to help teams design, automate, and secure modern infrastructure, whether in the cloud, on-premises, or somewhere in between. I’m passionate about open-source tools, scalable platforms, and making complex systems feel a bit more manageable (and sometimes even fun).

Why This Blog?

This blog is both a place to share and a place to learn. I’ll be writing about topics that matter to me professionally: think OpenTofu, GitLab, OpenBao, Kubernetes, and automation patterns. Expect a mix of deep dives, how-tos, lessons learned, and the occasional rant or war story.

It’s also a bit of a personal archive, somewhere to document the things I don’t want to forget and, hopefully, a resource others can learn from too.

What’s Next?

I’ll be posting regularly about:

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible)
  • CI/CD workflows and DevSecOps practices
  • HashiCorp tooling (Vault, Boundary, Packer, etc.)
  • Kubernetes and container platforms (Harvester, RKE2, Talos)
  • Open-source architectures, security, monitoring, and beyond

If you’re into building better platforms with fewer headaches, you’re in the right place.

Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you’re here!
